Gujarat Solar Energy and other Renewable Industry Enablers

Gujarat State policies are favoring the solar industry which is seeing an increase in investments in the sector. Gujarat government has been providing incentives such as accelerated depreciation, tax holidays and exemptions from taxes in the initial years of investment. This is likely to encourage companies entering in this space.

However, some of the questions such as which is the best alternative energy source, competencies in each of the renewable technology and the current level of efficiency drawn from the renewable sources often pose a threat to the development of the solar energy and other renewable sources in India, esp. Gujarat.

Hope the technology such as CSP and emerging technology of CPV are able to bring down the capital costs involved in setting up such a plant.
